- In succession of last year symposium, this year the NanoNed Symposium has been held together with MinacNed in Nijmegen on December 6th and 7th 2007. NanoNed is a national nanotechnology R&D initiative that combines the Dutch strengths in nanoscience and technology in a national network with scientifically, economically and socially relevant research and infrastructure projects. At this 2007 NanoNed and MinacNed Symposium I have been awarded with the First Prize for the best poster presentation. (more) - Submitted on this website on 08-12-2007
- On November 29, 2007, our patent entitled: Magneto-optical switching device and method for switching a magnetizable medium, has been published as an International Patent. (see the patent) - Submitted on this website on 08-12-2007
- On October 25, 2007 at Radboud University Nijmegen, I will present the All-Optical Magnetization Recording technique to Dr. L. J. Roborgh, General Director of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and some representatives of the Dutch business community. - Submitted on this website on 24-10-2007
- The 2007 Nobel Prize in physics has been awarded to Albert Fert and Peter Grunberg for simultaneously and independently discovering giant magnetoresistance, a technology that is used to read data on hard disks (the bits of information are microscopically small areas magnetized in different directions) and could also enable a new form of electronics called “spintronics”. - At the end of December 2007 I will end my 4-years PhD in the research group of Theo Rasing, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. - Submitted on this website on 02-10-2007
- The article published by Science: Lighting a Fire Under Hard Drives, based on our findings, has been two months in row (June 2007 and July 2007) one of the Top 10 most requested/read articles on the Science website. - Submitted on this website on 01-09-2007
- “This is one of the most exciting stories in magnetics” – this is how the Scientists at Seagate Research, Pittsburgh, USA call the All-Optical Magnetization Recording that we have recently demonstrated. (read more) - Submitted on this website on 01-08-2007
- Astronomers have found the most Earth-like planet outside our Solar System to date, a world which could have water running on its surface. (read more) - Submitted on this website on 03-05-2007

- At Nijmegen University in The Netherlands we have succeeded to demonstrate experimentally that all-optical magnetization reversal by single femtosecond laser pulse is possible. In other words light can switch magnets on a time scale of the order of at least 0.000 000 000 000 04 seconds. Until recently (2006) this phenomenon was theoretically believed impossible and couldn’t be observed experimentally in the research labs across the world. Our result might have a strong impact on the future of the data storage technology. - Submitted on this website on 18-03-2007
- Bill Gates, the founder and chairman of the biggest software company in the world has launched on the 1st of February The Microsoft Global Support Center located in Bucharest. - Submitted on this website on 27-02-2007
